This is dedicated to Staff Sgt. Marvin Lee Trost, who passed away on December 5th, 2004 when an I.E.D. detonated near his Humvee. "Thank you Marvin, for always seeing me, even as I was learning about who I was"

The Games That Made Us - Go to the Head of the Class

Hey hey BATT Family! With the advent of GenCon upon us, and getting out those extra preview episodes last week, this week's episode drop is the first from Scott of The Games That Made Us. In addition, there is a small notice at the start of the episode regarding our release schedule. In case you skip past that to go straight into the content - life got extremely busy and the editing process has simply taken an enormous amount of my spare and family time to get out the episodes each week. The pod will be continuing in full but we will be shifting to a bi-weekly release instead of weekly for the forseeable future. We really appreciate your patience with us as we figure out this whole process and love that you continue to take part in this wild journey. 

Gen Con 2024 Preview: The Games

In Part Two of our 2024 Gen Con preview coverage, we go through an amazing amount of games that we are looking forward to demoing and picking up. We had a lot of fun recording this, but there are a few episode notes to mention as we lost some of our segments to recording corruption:
1) As a correction, Nexus Ops' first edition was 2005 but the second edition was 2012. Regardless, look up the new edition - the game is so very good.
2) Jason mentioned a game to pick up called Lone Wolves. This is from Wonderful World Board Games at booth 1356 and is priced at $20.
3) Mark mentioned Tír na nÓg from Grand Gamers Guild. They can be found at booth 2838. They are offering a deluxe version for $50.
4) Metrorunner can be found at Thunderworks Games' booth at 1363 for $60.
5) Rock Hard: 1977 is from Devir. They are at booth 2827.

Gen Con 2024 Preview: Food and Events

Part One of our Gen Con preview coverage, this more rambling and less structured than normal conversation with fellow Theater Geek Jason was recorded on July 3, 2024. In this half of the conversation, we're discussing what we do when we show up in Indy, the food we all like to eat (hiiii-yah!), and the non-gaming events that are fun to attend. In Part two we'll be discussing all the games we want to demo and pick up but you can listen to either part in either order and be just fine.
